Resources Available at the TechACCESS Center
How can TechACCESS help me? TechACCESS of RI is a private,
not for profit resource center that serves people with disabilities
who are interested in assistive technology. Assistive Technology
is any device which helps a person with a disability function
better at home, work, school, or in the community. Information
and Referral Services regarding assistive technology are available
anytime by calling the Center. Anyone may obtain information
on assistive technology products, funding, services, etc. at
no charge. Referrals are made to service providers, vendors,
protection and advocacy services, etc. You may reach the Center

Additional resources available at TechACCESS include:
Catalogs - TechACCESS houses over 250 assistive
technology catalogs from local, regional and national
vendors. TechACCESS staff
members are available by appointment to help you determine
which catalog(s) might be an appropriate resource to meet your
individual needs. Most catalogs are available to take with
you.

Abledata - a data base containing over 20,000 items related to
assistive technology. Searches through this database may be
made by item name, manufacturer, or using key words about what
the item does. TechACCESS staff are available by appointment
to help you get started on Abledata.

Videos - TechACCESS has a video library of over 100 titles covering
a wide range of assistive technology. Videos may be previewed
at the Center. Selected videos are available for loan with
a deposit. Videos are listed by name, description, type of
disability, age group, and length.

Charge: There is a $5. deposit on videos leaving the Center.
Deposit is returned when videos are brought back.
Books - TechACCESS has begun a resource library of books on assistive
technology for use at the Center.
