Resources Available at RI Public Libraries*

Most libraries have the following materials and resources:

• Audio Books (books on tape): These are not the same as Talking Books, a separate service provided by the state.
• Computers and Internet Access
• Large Print Books
• Museum Passes
• Music CDs
• Traditional Printed Material: Books, Magazines and Newspapers
• Video Tapes
• Helpful and Knowledgeable Staff!

Special materials available at specific libraries:**

• Closed caption videos: Providence, S. Kingstown, West Warwick
• Descriptive videos: Barrington, Lincoln, Newport, Providence, Warwick, West Warwick
• E-books: Central Falls, Providence, Warwick

Assistive technology available at specific libraries:

• Magnifying lenses (handheld): most libraries
• Pocket talkers: many libraries
• Assistive listening systems: Barrington, Cranston, Cumberland, N. Smithfield, Rogers Free (Bristol), Warwick
• Closed Circuit TV (CCTV): Ashaway (Hopkinton), Clark Memorial (Richmond), Cranston, Lincoln, Newport, Portsmouth
• Computer with voice output: Hope, Langworthy (Hopkinton)
• Computer with screen magnifier: Brownell (Little Compton), Clark Memorial (Richmond), Cumberland, Langworthy (Hopkinton), So. Kingstown
• Computer with speech recognition: Clark Memorial (Richmond)
• Computer with adaptive keyboard: Clark Memorial (Richmond), Cumberland
• Computer with speech converter: Cranston
• Kurzweil Reading Edge: Cranston

Please confirm the availability of special equipment you might need before visiting a library. If you need special adaptive equipment, call ahead and ask your library if they can accommodate your needs.

**All computers running Windows have the capability to turn on certain accessibility features. Ask to have these turned on if you need them.
