Specialized Library & Information Resources in Rhode Island
Talking Books Plus (TBP) is the Rhode Island Regional Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped and functions as a public library for eligible persons with disabilities who reside in Rhode Island. As part of the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (NLS), TBP lends special reading materials and specially designed equipment free of charge. Books and magazines recorded on cassettes are mailed postage free to individuals qualifying for this service. TBP also connects its patrons with materials in other formats, such as:
The TBP collection contains over 30,000 titles, ranging from popular novels and bestsellers to classics, fiction and nonfiction. Materials are available for both children and adults. A selection of popular magazines in special formats is also available. Individuals who are certified by competent authority as blind or unable to read or use standard printed material as a result of physical limitations are eligible for service.
